Young people comprise the majority of the population but are largely excluded from political decision-making. While spaces for political participation exist, these are often accessible only to a limited number of young people and thus do not maximize their inherent empowering functions. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung contributes to expanding opportunities by both capacitating young people to become respected political dialogue partners as well as to providing spaces to advocate their concerns, both at the national and international level.
Some Leadership Development projects and programs:
- Academy of Political Management (APM), a capacity-building program for training of potential leaders and second-liners from a broad scope of political and civil society organizations on both organizational and political management knowledge and skills.
- Young Progressives Exchange Program on Modern Election Systems and Issues which is design to bring together youth leaders from Germany and the Philippines to enhance their capacities and knowledge on democratic practices in different contexts.
