Renewable Energy Boot Camp for Young Engineers Batch 1

Call for Applications

The Renewable Energy Boot Camp for Young Engineers (REBOOT) is an intensive training program that aims to develop a local pool of technically-oriented, development-driven, and proactive renewable energy (RE) advocates that will lead the way towards a successful transition to clean energy that is accessible to all sectors of the Philippine society.

This program is fully supported and managed by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Philippine Office. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is a private, not-for-profit, public interest cultural-educational foundation committed to the ideals and basic values of social democracy. FES has been active in the Philippines since 1964. In its cooperation with civil society organizations, labor groups, the academe and the government, it seeks to contribute in consolidating democratic institutions and in strengthening an inclusive political system and a people-centered economic development.

Format of the Boot Camp

REBOOT will be a holistic program that will focus on both technical and other support skills, spread into six (6) sessions of four-day modules each, over a calendar year. The six sessions will develop the following capabilities:

  • Technical skills in solar, wind, hydroelectric, and biomass power
  • Innovation
  • Leadership skills
  • Communication skills
  • Community organizing skills
  • Engineering project management skills

The boot camp will heavily involve site immersions in existing RE facilities, as well as in off-grid isolated communities, to maximize the experiential learning of the participants.

Participants will be required to present a proposal for a community-based RE project by the end of the training program. Attendance will be required in all sessions.
